WE’VE GOT (EVEN MORE) QUESTIONS FOR TOM KEAN JR.

SOMERVILLE, NJ — On air last week, News 12 called out Tom Kean Jr.’s continuous refusal to speak with the press or sit for interviews.

“He has largely ducked the media,” said News 12 Lead Anchor Eric Landskroner. “We’ve extended numerous invitations for him to appear on the show, and they have yet to accept.”

This week, Tom Kean Jr. doubled down on his ludicrous claim that he does "the most local press engagements of any NJ Member of Congress." Let’s be real, Congressman.

Kean’s unwillingness to answer questions from the press is part of a broader pattern: when it comes to issues that matter to the residents of NJ-7, despite his claims otherwise, Tom Kean Jr. has repeatedly declined to explain his positions or account for his actions that continue to put his party loyalty ahead of the people.

That leaves constituents with important questions they deserve answers to:

Why won’t Tom Kean Jr. stand up to Trump? Tom Kean Jr. has folded to Donald Trump at every turn. When the Trump administration moved to withhold funding for the Gateway project, putting thousands of jobs, major economic investment, and a critical transportation project for New Jersey commuters at risk, Kean Jr. refused to publicly stand up for New Jersey’s interests. While DHS attempted an unlawful takeover of a warehouse in Roxbury that would have wreaked havoc on local infrastructure and overburdened the town, Kean wasn’t just silent; he encouraged the "best path forward” for the takeover. Tom Kean Jr. has continually refused to speak up for the residents of NJ-7. Why does he put Trump over New Jersey residents?

Why did Tom Kean Jr. continually block a vote to release the Epstein Files? Victims spoke out and pleaded for months for the full, unredacted files to be released. Tom Kean Jr. voted three times to block Democratic attempts to force release of the Epstein Files, and he refused to sign the discharge petition that would have forced a vote. What purpose, other than protecting pedophiles, did that serve?

Why did Tom Kean Jr. continue to trade stocks during his 116-day absence, and why does he continue to trade stocks today, including profiting off of AI Data Centers? Tom Kean Jr. has made hundreds of thousands of dollars on the stock market just this year. He has broken his promise to set up a blind trust. As residents are demanding guardrails for data centers, Tom Kean Jr. has invested in companies that profit from data centers, which has reaped him at least $30,000. Are his priorities to his constituents, or his profits?

Why has Tom Kean Jr. consistently voted with Republican leadership to support President Donald Trump’s war in Iran? Kean campaigned on lowering costs here at home, but instead he is shipping New Jerseyans’ tax dollars overseas on a war in Iran that has made everything more expensive and, importantly, put our service members in harm’s way. Why has he voted three times to continue the war in Iran?

Why does Tom Kean Jr. keep refusing to speak to the press? As demonstrated in the past, Tom Kean Jr. is perfectly capable of sitting for an interview and giving commentary about issues that face his constituents. Why, as a Member of Congress, has he refused to explain himself to the public?

We don’t get many opportunities to hear directly from Tom Kean Jr. That’s why all eyes will be on next week’s New Jersey Globe debate, where we’re hoping to get some answers from NJ-7’s silent representative.
