NJDSC Statement on Trump Admin’s Illegal Release of Mikie Sherrill’s Unredacted Military Files to Ciattarelli Campaign
TRENTON, NJ – After the Trump administration illegally furnished the Jack Ciattarelli campaign with Mikie Sherrill’s Social Security number, insurance information, and personal addresses of her and her family for political purposes, New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr. released the following statement:
“This country has watched in horror as the Trump administration has weaponized the federal government against its political opponents – and now New Jersey watches as Jack Ciattarelli’s campaign invites the same against one of our own, in a breathtaking breach of the most basic principles of government and a flagrant violation of federal law.
“The Ciattarelli campaign’s agents obtained Mikie Sherrill’s Social Security number, her address, and the addresses of her family members, then shared that information in violation of federal law. Their collusion with Donald Trump’s administration to illegally sway the outcome of the New Jersey gubernatorial election cannot be allowed to stand.
“My message to the Ciattarelli associates who helped facilitate these crimes: Lawyer up.”
