Things Jack Ciattarelli Supports: Trump Defunding a Military Base in New Jersey

Ciattarelli on “whether he disagrees with Trump on anything” – “I do not.”

TRENTON, NJ – Jack Ciattarelli has dodged questions about the GOP price hike bill’s massive health care cuts “by saying he wanted to focus on ‘New Jersey issues.’

In his mind, hundreds of thousands of vulnerable New Jerseyans losing health care may not be a ‘New Jersey issue.’

But how about Pete Hegseth’s plan to cut $1 billion in funding and one thousand jobs from Morris County’s Picatinny Arsenal?

  • The New Jersey Globe reports that “a proposed Army plan that could lead to sizable losses of funding and jobs” would be “devastating for the local economy and communities in western Morris County.”

  • A bipartisan letter to Pete Hegseth and Army Secretary Dan Driscoll “led by Rep. Mikie Sherrill” calls out how the Army’s plan to defund Picatinny “would lead to 1,000 jobs and nearly $1 billion in funding being shifted away from” the base.

Even GOP Reps. Tom Kean, Jr. and Jeff Van Drew were able to sign on to Sherrill’s letter highlighting how important this funding, and these one thousand jobs, are for Morris County.

But Ciattarelli says he agrees with Trump on everything. It’s worth asking him:

Does that include defunding a military base in New Jersey?

“Even Republicans like Tom Kean, Jr. and Jeff Van Drew are willing to speak out against the Trump administration’s plan to defund Picatinny Arsenal by $1 billion and slash a thousand New Jersey jobs – and still Jack Ciattarelli is silent. Ciattarelli has said over and over that he agrees with Donald Trump on every issue, and while Mikie Sherrill brings Democrats and Republicans together to protect this funding and the jobs that go with it, Ciattarelli is showing yet again that he’ll put loyalty to Trump ahead of New Jersey every single time,” said New Jersey Democratic State Committee spokesperson Ryan Radulovacki.
