NJDSC LGBTQ+ Caucus Raises Alarm Over Conservative Groups’ Planned School Visit in New Jersey

TRENTON, NJ – The New Jersey Democratic State Committee LGBTQ+Caucus Chair Lauren Albrecht issues the following statement:

“As Chair of the LGBTQ+ Caucus, I stand with parents, students, and community members who are deeply concerned about the planned visit by the U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to Cedar Drive Middle School in Colts Neck, accompanied by conservative organizations such as Turning Point USA.

It is unacceptable to subject students to a politically charged event rather than an age appropriate educational program. Our schools must remain safe, inclusive environments where all young people including LGBTQ+ youth feel protected.

New Jersey’s public schools should be free from partisan agendas, especially those advanced by groups with a history of targeting LGBTQ+ communities and undermining inclusive education. We urge the district to reconsider this event and reaffirm its commitment to ensuring every student feels safe and supported.”
