PRESS RELEASE

NEW JERSEY DEMOCRATS TO TRUMP: VOTERS HAVE HAD ENOUGH, AND WE’RE READY TO FIGHT BACK.

NEW JERSEY – Following Tuesday's landside election, New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill; U.S. Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim; U.S. Representatives Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Donald Norcross (NJ-01), Dr. Herb Conaway (NJ-03), Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), Rob Menendez (NJ-08), Nellie Pou (NJ-09), LaMonica McIver (NJ-10), and Analilia Mejia (NJ-11); and U.S. Representatives-elect Zack Mullock (NJ-02), Rebecca Bennett (NJ-07), and Dr. Adam Hamawy (NJ-12) issued the following statement:

“Yesterday, for the second year in a row, New Jersey voters sent a message that could not have been clearer: they reject Trump’s chaos and corruption that is driving up costs.

“Americans are working harder than ever and getting less for it. They are borrowing money and taking out lines of credit just to afford groceries in Trump’s America. Meanwhile, corporate profits are soaring while the cost of living keeps climbing. People who have done everything right are wondering how they will ever afford a home or give their children a better life. They have every right to be angry. The American Dream should not be a luxury reserved for those who can afford it.

“All of us will be united in one mission to work every day to lower costs and expand opportunity for the people we serve. That includes working to lower energy costs and build out clean power generation, and reversing the damage from the Trump administration’s reckless attacks on healthcare and food assistance for so many New Jerseyans. We are also united in our responsibility to hold this president accountable for his corruption and self-dealing and to stand against his attacks on our fundamental rights and freedoms.  Our democracy belongs to the people, and we intend to keep it that way.

“We are proud to welcome Representatives-elect Rebecca Bennett, Adam Hamawy and Zack Mullock to our delegation. Their victories bring new energy and a renewed sense of possibility. New Jersey has helped lead America through moments of great change before, and we intend to do so again. We believe our best days are still ahead of us.

“The voters have done their job. Now it is time for us to do ours.”
