JOINT STATEMENT FROM COUNTY CHAIRS REGARDING LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR DALE CALDWELL

“Elected officials serve the people of New Jersey. The findings of the independent investigation released yesterday are serious, troubling, and unacceptable. As the County Chairs representing New Jersey’s Democratic Party, we are grateful that Lieutenant Governor Caldwell is stepping aside and putting the interests of the people first. 

“Governor Sherrill’s decision to launch an independent investigation was the right course, and we applaud her for it. The governor put the people of New Jersey first, ahead of politics, and allowed the independent investigation to proceed unimpeded so that the facts could be reviewed impartially and thoroughly. Governor Sherrill always promised transparency and accountability in government, and it was exemplified in these difficult circumstances.”
