NJDSC CHAIR JONES, BCDC CHAIR RIGGINS & MCDC CHAIR DAVIS RELEASE STATEMENTS ON NJ MAGA TASK FORCE
TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman Leroy J. Jones, Jr., Burlington County Democratic Committee Chairman Matt Riggins and Monmouth County Democrats Chairwoman Dyese Davis today released the following statements slamming the New Jersey Republican Party’s decision to echo Donald Trump and national MAGA Republicans’ wholly fabricated “mass voter fraud” conspiracy theory.
Chairman Jones said, "It only took a decade and the election of a new state Republican chair, but the New Jersey Republican Party has finally fully embraced Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans fabled 'flood the zone with nonsense' approach to politics.
If the NJGOP and their Chairwoman are so concerned about 'integrity' then maybe they could create a 'task force' to get the Epstein files released, or a 'committee' to unearth why taxpayers should be forced to spend a billion dollars on a ballroom, or even a ‘Blue Ribbon Panel’ to discuss the impacts of ICE illegally snatching up residents and destroying families.
However, if they want to start small then perhaps a 'sub-committee' to look into the Monmouth County Clerk's office to find out why two of the four people being charged by the U.S. Attorney with illegally voting are from there.
All of those things would be a better use of time than joining President Trump and his cronies on the 'election fraud' freight train. What's next, screaming about 'witch hunts' and 'fake news' while conspiring to prevent people from voting at all? Of course, wrapping your arms around Donald Trump and his failed ideas has historically worked quite well for Republicans in New Jersey. Just ask Jack Ciattarelli."
Burlington County Democratic Committee Chair Matt Riggins said:
"Let’s call Chairwoman Hanlon’s announcement what it is: an election interference task force. It is a deliberate attempt to distract from the chaos that Donald Trump is inflicting on our economy and our global standing. The fact that a member of the Burlington County Board of Elections, a bipartisan body that does the vital work of administering our elections every year, has lent her name to this effort is a shameful use of her position. Burlington County Democrats will not stand by while Republicans use offices of public trust to attack the votes of the people we serve. I call on every New Jersey voter regardless of party to reject these blatant attempts at undermining our most sacred obligation: the right to vote."
Monmouth County Democrats Chair Dyese Davis added:
“This is yet another example of fear mongering from the GOP. Instead of pushing conspiracy-driven rhetoric designed to undermine confidence in our elections, we should be focused on educating voters, increasing civic engagement, and making sure our local election systems are functioning effectively right here in our own communities.
New Jersey Republicans continue to chase headlines and manufacture distrust rather than address the real issues families are facing every day. Efforts like this do nothing to strengthen democracy. They only divide people, spread misinformation, and erode public trust in the very institutions that make our elections free and fair.”
