(Trenton) — John Currie, Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, issued the following statement regarding the passing of former Congressman Robert A. Roe:
“A legendary figure in New Jersey politics — in Passaic County in particular — Congressman Roe dedicated his entire career to serving the public. It is amazing to think that he represented our state in Washington for almost a quarter of a century — from the late sixties, just before Watergate, to the dawn of the Internet age in the early nineties.”
“As Chairman of the powerful House Committee on Public Works and Transportation, Congressman Roe proved that it was possible to work across party lines and to make investments in infrastructure that would boost the economy and improve commerce. Certainly, Congressman Roe’s many accomplishments deserve our lasting respect and appreciation. I will miss my friend, and I send my deepest sympathies to the Roe family.”
