Days after competitive mayoral elections in New Jersey’s largest cities, notable Democratic officials demonstrated that their shared values are bigger and stronger than any differences they may have had on the campaign trail, and kicked off a two day conference hosted by the New Jersey Democratic State Committee (NJDSC).
Jersey City Mayor Fulop Welcomes Participants at Opening Reception, Speaker Prieto and Newark’s Mayor-elect Baraka to Address Labor Breakfast
(Atlantic City, New Jersey) – Days after competitive mayoral elections in New Jersey’s largest cities, notable Democratic officials demonstrated that their shared values are bigger and stronger than any differences they may have had on the campaign trail, and kicked off a two day conference hosted by the New Jersey Democratic State Committee (NJDSC).
The party’s 18th annual conference, which is being held in Atlantic City, is themed “Back to Basics & Beyond,” and offers a busy schedule of trainings, caucuses, receptions and celebrations.
“I am excited that we have such a great gathering of activists, donors, Democratic elected officials, and loyal foot soldiers together under one roof,” said John Currie, Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. “Tonight’s kick-off proves that we are unified and electrified to win congressional seats and local elections this November.”
Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop welcomed conference participants, while State Senate President Steve Sweeney will address a lunch tomorrow. Assembly Speaker Vinny Prieto will address a breakfast and recognize the women of organized Labor, as too will newly-elected Newark Mayor, Ras Baraka. New Jersey’s two U.S. Senators, Robert Menendez and Cory Booker are scheduled to address tomorrow evening‘s Congressional Dinner in honor of Congressman Rush Holt and former Congressman Rob Andrews.
