U.S. Naval Academy graduate, Navy helicopter pilot, former federal prosecutor, and mother of four – Mikie Sherrill proudly serves New Jersey in Congress and is running for governor to make life easier and more affordable for Garden State families.

Mikie Sherrill proudly serves as New Jersey's 57th Governor. Mikie ran for governor on a mission to lower costs, take care of our kids, and make government more accountable. She'll take on anyone to deliver for New Jerseyans.

After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1994, Mikie spent almost 10 years on active duty in the Navy as a Sea King Helicopter pilot, leading missions throughout Europe and the Middle East, and as a Russian policy officer aiding in the implementation of our nuclear treaty obligations. 

Following her military service, Mikie attended law school, eventually joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey. As an Outreach and Reentry Coordinator, Mikie established programs to develop trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. She then served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, prosecuting federal cases to keep New Jerseyans safe, and worked to take illegal guns off our streets.

In her first-ever run for office in 2018, she led a grassroots movement in a district Trump won, driving an entrenched Republican incumbent out of the race and ultimately delivering the largest swing from red to blue in the entire country. Mikie ran for governor in 2025, earning more votes than any gubernatorial candidate in New Jersey history and becoming the first woman veteran elected governor in the U.S.

Mikie has a record of fighting to bring down costs for families and delivering for the communities she serves, including securing funding for critical infrastructure projects like the Gateway Tunnel to improve commutes and reduce traffic congestion. As governor, she is working to drive down costs from utilities to groceries to housing, and fighting back against Trump's federal overreach.

Mikie and her husband Jason, a fellow Naval Academy graduate, have four children.
