Deputy Organizing Director

Summary: The New Jersey Democratic State Committee is seeking talent to help lead Mikie Sherrill and Democrats up and down the ballot to victory this November. 

The Deputy Organizing Director will play a key leadership role within the volunteer field program on the Coordinated Campaign, managing a team of Regional Campaign Directors and working alongside Deputy Political Directors to ensure field and political goals are met in regions. This position reports to the Statewide Organizing Director and will be based in New Jersey.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Coach and manage a team of Regional Campaign Directors. 

  • Develop strategies and systems that lead your regions to successfully meet and exceed daily, weekly, and phase organizing goals, as well as maintain data integrity. 

  • Oversee and support the establishment and management of relationships with local and county-level Democratic entities and candidates, grassroots leaders, and allied organizations in assigned regions.

  • Assist the Statewide Organizing Director in program development and execution.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned. 

Required Qualifications 

  • 2+ cycles of organizing experience with staff management responsibilities, experience managing managers is preferred. 

  • Experience working in large, metric driven voter contact programs. 

  • Experience managing/coordinating political relationships with state, county, and local Democratic party entities and/or allied organizations, experience working with a statewide or regional coordinated campaign preferred.

  • Ability to create a motivating and inclusive culture both in specific super-regions and statewide. 

  • Willingness to manage a diverse team with different experiences and perspectives, and a commitment to helping them grow and succeed. 

  • Must have access to a vehicle and the ability to relocate if necessary.

This is a salaried position of $7,500 per month. Benefits include eligibility for health benefits and dental benefits. This position reports directly to the Statewide Organizing Director. Schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and will require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle. Supporter housing may be available. This position is at-will employment. Anticipated Start Date: ASAP Location: Various regional offices across New Jersey.
