“By the governor’s own account, his administration has acted in a manner that was both unacceptable and disrespectful. It is for this reason that Chris Christie is entering his second term under a cloud of suspicion. As he takes the oath of office, Chris Christie would be wise to focus on the harm that his administration has caused to the people of Jersey, not just to his political ambitions and his pride,” said Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee John Currie.
DEMOCRATIC CHAIRMAN JOHN CURRIE’S STATEMENT ON THE CHRIS CHRISTIE INAUGURAL CEREMONY
(Trenton) — Today, Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee John Currie issued the following statement concerning Governor Chris Christie’s second inaugural event:
“By the governor’s own account, his administration has acted in a manner that was both unacceptable and disrespectful. It is for this reason that Chris Christie is entering his second term under a cloud of suspicion.”
“I am not going to prejudge the outcome of investigations into the improprieties or illegalities of this administration, but it is disappointing that the carefully worded statements of Governor Christie’s office have not been accompanied by a noticeable change in behavior. Instead, since Bridgegate, we have seen more partisan posturing, evasiveness, bluster and indignation directed toward others.”
“The people of New Jersey have a right to expect that their chief executive will be held accountable for his actions, and we are rightfully concerned about how New Jersey’s affairs are being managed.”
“So, make no mistake, the situation we find ourselves in now is one that the governor’s administration — not the media, legislators, or independent investigators — created.”
“As he takes the oath of office, Chris Christie would be wise to focus on the harm that his administration has caused to the people of Jersey, not just to his political ambitions and his pride.”
