(Trenton) — Today, the Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee slammed Governor Chris Christie for his stubborn detachment from the fiscal challenges in Atlantic City, and the issues affecting people across the state.

Yesterday, Governor Christie, who consistently places his personal political ambitions over New Jersey’s policy problems and the needs of middle class families, accused the Assembly Speaker and Atlantic City Mayor of “playing a game of chicken” with ongoing negotiations.

“The rescue of Atlantic City is not a game,” Chairman Currie said. “And, with so many livelihoods at stake, it is sad that the Governor continues to show disdain for his responsibilities and for the people of our state. After vetoing an earlier aid package, he has no credibility to level accusations — not with his failed economic record. We should not forget, he neglected Sandy relief effort and broke his promises to pensioners. He cannot be trusted to protect fundamental worker rights.”

Currie continued, “The time for political posturing should have ended along with his pitiful presidential bid. Now it’s time to stand up for New Jersey’s working families and save Atlantic City from bankruptcy.”
