[Trenton] — Today, New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie applauded Governor-elect Murphy for choosing Tahesha Way as his nominee for Secretary of State.
“This is another excellent selection,” said Chairman Currie. “I know Tahesha Way well from her extensive work in Passaic County. She is a dynamic and inspiring leader who adds additional competence and diversity to the Governor-elect’s cabinet.”
In Passaic County, Way has served as Freeholder Director of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, as special counsel for the Board of Social Services, and on a local Democratic organization designed to empower women, among other civic ventures.
“At a time when Republicans like President Donald Trump are manufacturing fear and electoral apathy, while enabling bigotry, it is important to have a capable administrator of our state’s elections — someone who will focus on encouraging, not discouraging, participation and protecting the rights of all eligible voters,” Currie added.
As has been reported, Way is the daughter of a bus driver and a railroad clerk, and an “Ivy League-educated working mother” who is recognized for her community involvement, and philanthropy. In addition to her public service work and tenure as an Administrative Law Judge, Way has worked as a teacher and a litigator. She and her husband, former Giants player, Charles Way, live with their family in Wayne, New Jersey.
