Coordinated Campaign Data Director

Summary: The New Jersey Democratic State Committee is seeking talent to help lead Mikie Sherrill and Democrats up and down the ballot to victory this November. 

The Coordinated Campaign Data Director will play a key leadership role on the Coordinated Campaign, overseeing data infrastructure, reporting, and targeting. The ideal candidate is a skilled data practitioner with experience in electoral campaigns and a passion for using data to win elections.

This role will be based in New Jersey, and will require in person work. 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the campaign’s technical data capabilities and deliver scalable analytics solutions in partnership with campaign leadership.

  • Manage a team of data associates

  • Design and build dashboards, reports, and targeting tools aligned with strategic goals across departments.

  • Collaborate closely with field leadership and regional teams to ensure analytics products address real-time needs.

  • Manage and administer the campaign’s VAN committee and voter contact tools.

  • Draft strategic memos and internal analytics reports that provide insights into voter engagement, persuasion, and GOTV performance.

  • Coordinate with data vendors, distributed and out-of-state program leads, and paid media teams to ensure alignment in data strategy and targeting.

  • Train staff on VAN, data best practices, and analytics tools to enable high-impact organizing.

  • Maintain documentation, timelines, and version control to support data accuracy and reproducibility.

  • Contribute to a supportive and strategic mission-driven coordinated team culture; 

  • All other duties required or assigned.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous cycles of campaign experience as a member of a Data and Analytics team (or equivalent); coordinated campaign experience strongly preferred.

  • A desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and work collaboratively to implement creative solutions. 

  • Ability to translate stakeholder and programmatic needs into scalable data products, dashboards, and targeting tools that drive strategic decision-making. 

  • Fluency in SQL and comfort working with large and complex datasets.

  • Proficiency with tools such as Github, Excel, Hex, Google Data Studio (Looker Studio), dbt, Python, R, and QGIS.

  • Excellent communication and project management skills; 

  • Ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy  and attention to detail.

  • Experience collaborating across departments and navigating the political campaign landscape.

  • Experience with VAN/Votebuilder, including administrative capabilities.

  • Adaptable, solutions-oriented, and motivated by the mission of electing Democrats in New Jersey.

This position reports directly to the Coordinated Campaign Director. Schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and will require evening, weekend or holiday work over the course of the election cycle. This position is at-will employment.  

Compensation and Benefits: This is an exempt salaried position which is paid at the rate of $8,500 per month. Benefits include eligibility for health benefits and dental benefits. Supporter housing may be available.
