This week was full of major highlights for our New Jersey Democratic State Committee that show one thing: that we are unified and ready for the incredibly consequential Presidential Election year that is right around the corner. In one of the clearest signs of Democratic unity, our entire House delegation voted together to impeach President Trump this week, holding him accountable and doing their Constitutional duty. I would like to thank our representatives, especially those in competitive districts, for putting our country first and doing the right thing.

Earlier this week I announced an agreement that has been made with my friend Essex County Democratic Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr., concerning the future leadership of our party. Thanks to the strong backing of Governor Murphy, Democratic leaders from throughout the state and grassroots advocates, we were able to build an incredible level of support for Vice Chair Peg Schaffer and I to continue leading our party forward. Chairman Jones recognized that, and together we announced that he has endorsed our team for a new term, ending a leadership struggle. I am very proud of this outcome and the fact that I will now have the opportunity to lead our party into the Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, the 2020 Election and 2021 when we will work to re-elect Governor Murphy and Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver. At that time, I will support Chairman Jones to succeed me in the position and continue moving our party forward.

Governor Murphy signed landmark legislation this week granting driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants, a progressive measure that will help thousands of residents step out of the shadows and live their lives without fear. The law will also make our roads safer by making sure more drivers are properly licensed, trained and insured, while generating significant revenue for the state and positive economic impact. This was a promise the Governor made and delivered on thanks to the support of the State Legislature, and I congratulate him and the many activists who have worked hard for years to make this a reality.

This week, Cory 2020 unveiled their first TV ad titled “Together” targeted specifically at Democrats tuning in to this week’s debate. Cory also kicked off a whirlwind four-day, 11-county bus tour in Iowa that will go through Monday. To find out how you can be a part of Cory’s grassroots movement to unite our country, visit
