TRENTON, NJ — New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr., is releasing the following statement on the one year anniversary of the U.S. Capitol Insurrection:

“One year ago, violent extremists threatened our democracy, endangering the lives of lawmakers and staffers, and ultimately resulting in the death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick and in numerous injuries to his fellow law enforcement officers. While this reprehensible attack was the most visible expression of creeping tyranny and fasicism in our country in recent memory, it wasn’t the first time this radical ideology has reared its head. It’s up to every person in our country who believes in democratic values to stand up against those who would engage in conspiracy theories and those who would undermine faith in our elections.”
