Democrat,

“Undying” Trump supporter and turncoat Jeff Van Drew continues to make headlines, this time by endorsing his fellow “Stop the Steal” enthusiast Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli for Governor. This perfect pairing illustrates just how far the Republican Party has fallen, when the Republican frontrunner for his party’s nomination for governor is willingly accepting the support of a politician in Van Drew who has seemingly reversed himself on every position he’s taken since going to Washington.

At NJDSC we are already working to defeat Van Drew next year, along with grassroots Democrats in South Jersey and throughout the state who know how important it is to beat him. You can join the fight here by choosing your least favorite Van Drew moment, from opposing the COVID-19 relief act to siding with radical Marjorie Taylor-Green to suppressing our right to vote.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

With two more tragic mass shootings happening this week alone, the urgent need to enact more stringent gun safety laws has never been more clear, both nationally and here in New Jersey. Governor Murphy is answering that call by proposing a sweeping new package of gun safety reforms that will make our state the toughest on guns in the country. President Biden himself is praising the governor for his quick action, thanking him for “stepping up and taking action to save lives.”

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

With the 20th anniversary of 9/11 approaching, President Biden just announced that he will soon pull all U.S. forces out of Afghanistan. This decisive action shows the President’s willingness to move on from the past and embrace a better future for our nation and the world.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

Republican gubernatorial candidate Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli is no longer alone in his primary election — now he’s been joined by radical conservative, tax-dodging pastor Phil Rizzo. Maybe that’s why Ciattarelli has been adopting extreme positions like suppressing the vote, cutting off funding for women’s health care and stopping the state’s minimum wage increase.

Read more about Ciattarelli’s embrace of the far right, QAnon wing of the GOP here.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

New Jersey continues to hit new milestones in its vaccination program, with over 5 million doses now administered and 2 million residents fully vaccinated. Governor Murphy himself received his shot today at the Atlantic City megasite, along with First Lady Tammy Murphy. The duo booked their appointments online using the same systems available to all eligible residents after the state’s age limit was reduced to 55+.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

President Biden recently unveiled an aggressive, comprehensive plan to reduce the gun violence epidemic in America by banning assault weapons, instituting background checks and several other common sense safety measures. As the President said, it’s far past time for “thoughts and prayers” — it’s time to act to make our country safer.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

Governor Murphy and Democrats in the state legislature once again proved their commitment to expanding access to the ballot this week, with the Governor signing a bill to offer Early Voting here in New Jersey for the first time. This is a tremendous advance that will allow more people to exercise their sacred right to vote, especially those with jobs or family responsibilities that make voting on a Tuesday difficult.

For a detailed look at how the new Early Voting system will work check out this article on our website breaking it all down.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

With vaccine eligibility continuing to open up in our state more and more residents are getting their shots — as of today over 4.2 million doses have been administered, and New Jersey ranks third in the nation in percentage of doses given at 88.4%. Governor Murphy and his team are still working hard to improve the vaccine rollout, and the latest announcement is a new tool to help residents find open appointment slots near them: The NJ Vaccine Finder.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

Coming on the heels of the successful passage of the Recovery Act, the Biden administration is now working on another transformative initiative that will help our country come back from the pandemic stronger than ever. The American Jobs Plan would invest $2 Trillion into our country’s infrastructure, creating jobs and boosting the economic recovery while making much-needed improvements to our roads, bridges, water systems, airports, schools and much more. You can read more about the plan here, which also includes funding for the Gateway Project to build new train tunnels under the Hudson River, a priority we have been working towards for many years.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

P.S. — We need your help to get Governor Murphy on the ballot! Due to the pandemic, petitions for the primary election can now be collected online and you can show your support for our Governor by signing his petition here.

Democrat,

We know that better days are ahead of us with vaccine distribution continuing to ramp up thanks to the efforts of Governor Murphy and thousands of local and county officials and healthcare leaders throughout the state. But that doesn’t mean we can let our guard down now — we have to stay vigilant and continue following public health guidelines. That’s why it was so disappointing to see Republican gubernatorial candidate Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli carelessly ignore the state’s mask mandate at a recent indoor public event.

These public health guidelines are in place for a reason — to keep us safe. Top political and governmental leaders have a responsibility to model the right behavior and show others the right way to act, and Jack Ciattarelli just failed that test miserably.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

With the state’s vaccine rollout now being recognized as among the nation’s best, Governor Murphy made two major announcements today to continue its expansion — lowering the age eligibility limit to 55 and a new federal mega-site in Newark that will significantly help reach underserved populations in our state’s largest city.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

When he took office President Biden announced an ambitious goal — 100 million COVID-19 vaccines administered in his first 100 days. After smashing through that goal, the President recently announced a new one:

President Biden’s leadership is helping us get through this crisis and back to our normal lives, and here at the NJDSC we could not be more proud to have him in the White House fighting for us.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie
P.S. — We need your help to get Governor Murphy on the ballot! Due to the pandemic, petitions for the primary election can now be collected online and you can show your support for our Governor by signing his petition here.

Democrat,

Earlier this week Governor Murphy announced his intent to nominate civil rights attorney Rachel Wainer Apter for a seat on the New Jersey State Supreme Court. A Harvard Law graduate, former clerk to the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and director of the Attorney General’s Office Division of Civil Rights, Rachel is eminently qualified and will make an exemplary addition to the court.

But that didn’t stop Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli from making a sexist, unfair attack on her nomination, claiming that she is inexperienced despite her impressive record of public service. Read NJDSC Vice Chair Peg Schaffer’s response to Ciattarelli here.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

With teachers now eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines in the state, Governor Murphy is pushing for all school districts to move towards in-person instruction as soon as is safely possible. Noting that the American Rescue Act includes $2.8 billion in funding for local schools to implement safety measures, the Governor is working with all stakeholders to ensure that New Jersey students can get back into the classroom.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

When he took office in January, President Biden announced an ambitious goal of providing 100 million vaccines in the first 100 days of his administration. Today the country smashed through that goal in just President Biden’s 58th day in office, once again showing how his leadership has dramatically improved vaccine production and distribution throughout the country.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

The New Jersey Democratic State Committee has launched a totally revamped website with new branding ahead of the critical 2021 election season. The website features opportunities to get involved, donate to Democratic candidates, and be a part of events taking place throughout the year, which are all highlighted on the new site. Voters may also stay up to date with a regularly updated news feed and access important voter resources. The site is fully integrated with the Mobilize platform, which allows the party, candidates and grassroots advocates to create events and other activities and connect with voters. We hope you will use the tools on this new website to take an even more active role in helping elect Democrats all over New Jersey!

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

This morning Governor Murphy was in Union City along with Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky to watch as local seniors became some of the first New Jerseyans to receive the company’s newly approved COVID-19 vaccine. Developed right here in New Jersey, the J&J vaccine is helping the state ramp up vaccination efforts, especially in underserved communities that are more difficult to reach.

Over 2.3 million vaccine doses have now been administered in the state, and New Jersey now ranks fifth in the nation in percentage of shots used and eighth in total doses given per day. It’s clear that Governor Murphy and his team, along with partners in county and local government and the private sector, are succeeding in ramping up vaccine distribution and doing the work to defeat COVID-19 once and for all.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

President Biden’s capable, caring leadership is already earning him high marks with voters. New polling shows the President with a 60% approval rating, driven by his handling of the pandemic, the economy and other critical issues. The $1.9 trillion relief plan the President is proposing is also hugely popular despite unanimous Republican opposition, including from New Jersey’s own Jeff Van Drew and Chris Smith who voted against the plan. That’s a major reason why we need to get to work now to defeat both of these out of touch Republicans next year. Learn more about our “Traitor Van Drew” campaign here to join our fight to defeat Van Drew.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie
P.S. — We need your help to get Governor Murphy on the ballot! Due to the pandemic, petitions for the primary election can now be collected online and you can show your support for our Governor by signing his petition here.

Democrat,

This week we launched an independent campaign targeting Congressman Jeff Van Drew designed to galvanize opposition to the Republican party-switcher in advance of the 2022 election. The effort includes a new website detailing the ways ‘Traitor Jeff Van Drew’ has betrayed his constituents and displayed his fealty to disgraced former President Donald Trump. The campaign is designed to support and encourages concerned residents to learn more about how to defeat Van Drew, and it will include social media, digital advertising and more.

After switching parties and declaring his undying support for Donald Trump, he voted against certifying the election results, voted no on a bipartisan impeachment and voted against stripping congressional committee assignments from a dangerous conspiracy theorist. Jeff Van Drew has put his thirst for political power over the people he swore to serve and he must be removed from office — that work starts now, and it will end in his defeat.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

With key metrics like hospitalizations now in a steady decline, Governor Murphy is taking steps to safely reopen our state in a deliberative, careful manner by scaling back on some public health measures. Indoor dining can now operate at 35% capacity and the 10:00pm curfew has been eliminated, helping struggling small businesses keep their doors open. The Governor also announced that the upcoming April and May local elections will once again have traditional in-person voting, thanks to lower numbers of cases throughout the state and the continued growth of vaccine distribution.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

Ever since taking office just weeks ago, President Biden and his team have worked tirelessly to clean up the mess that the Trump administration left behind, and nowhere was this more prouncined than in fighting against COVID-19. In just a short time the new administration has made tremendous progress — and this week the President announced that he has secured 200 million additional doses of COVID-19 vaccines, enough to cover every adult in the country by the summer.

With this massive increase in supply coupled with the vaccine distribution network that Governor Murphy and local, county and private partners have built, we can expect wide availability of these life saving vaccines here in New Jersey in the coming months.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH UPDATE

Continuing our celebration of Black History Month, we will host two panels next week highlighting the contributions of Black women in our state and our nation. On Monday, the 10:00am panel will take place during the party’s annual “Faith and Democratic Party” Breakfast with Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver and NJDSC Chairman John Currie all making remarks. The Thursday 7:00pm panel will feature Assemblywomen Linda Carter, Mila Jasey and Angela McKnight and will be moderated by the Chair of the Emerging Leaders Caucus Fatima Heyward.

Our Black History Month programming will continue all month, so make sure you follow our NJDSC Facebook and Twitter pages to join us.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

Jeff Van Drew has continued to betray his constituents, our state and our values over and over again. First, it was his decision to abandon our party and join the Republicans, pledging his “undying support” to Donald Trump. Then came his willingness to spread Trump’s lies about the election and his total failure to stand up for our democracy — the kind of cowardice that led directly to the Capitol insurrection. Now, Van Drew has taken another step toward the radical fringe of the Republican Party by refusing to hold radical QAnon spreader Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene accountable

As each day passes, it becomes more and more clear that Jeff Van Drew must be defeated in 2022. Chip in now to help us stand up to his lies and defense of the violent, far right fringe and help us make sure his Democratic opponent has the resources to expose him for what he is — a Donald Trump lapdog that South Jersey can’t trust.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

While Governor Murphy has kept his focus on handling the COVID-19 pandemic while supporting small businesses, and on ramping up vaccine distribution capacity while we wait for more supply from the federal government, that doesn’t mean he has stopped working on other critical priorities. In fact, Governor Murphy has partnered with First Lady Tammy Murphy to unveil an ambitious new policy agenda designed to address our state’s unfortunate ranking as one of the worst in the nation for maternal mortality among Black and Hispanic women giving birth.

The strategic plan is the latest element of the first lady’s Nurture NJ initiative, which aims to make New Jersey the safest and most equitable place in the nation to deliver and raise a baby. Taking these concrete steps now will save the lives of mothers across our state, and it once again shows the Governor’s commitment to the women of New Jersey. Alongside this important initiative, Governor Murphy has also signed into law the nation’s strongest equal pay for equal work laws, announced his support for codifying Roe v. Wade into state law, increased funding for women’s healthcare services and much more.

The Biden administration is wasting no time in working to deliver the relief that people struggling through the pandemic so desperately need. The President’s $1.9 trillion relief package passed a critical procedural vote in the U.S. Senate this morning, and the plan is now on its way to the House of Representatives for further consideration. New Jersey’s Democratic senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker supported this crucial legislation, and we look forward to our House delegation soon acting to deliver this much-needed assistance. Unfortunately every single Republican senator voted no on the plan, once again showing their party’s abandonment of people in need.

Black History Month in New Jersey kicked off this week with a bang! We are proud to be showcasing Black women leaders from our state and across the country this month to thank them for their incredible contributions to our democracy. Here are the first spotlight videos celebrating these wonderful leaders:

Vice President Kamala Harris:

Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver:

NJ Supreme Court Justice Fabiana Pierre-Louis:

NJ Secretary of State Tahesha Way:

Rep. Bonnie Watson-Coleman:

Our Black History Month programming will continue all month, so make sure you follow our NJDSC Facebook and Twitter pages to join us.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

With January coming to a close, we are very excited to soon be launching our NJDSC Black History Month programming on Monday. With the incredible contributions made to our democracy this past year by leaders like Vice President Kamala Harris, Stacey Abrams and many others, we could think of no better way to mark the occasion than by celebrating Black women leaders in our Democratic Party. You will see much more information on our plans on Monday and I look forward to joining together to celebrate the Black women who have been the driving force of our Democratic Party for so long, and who so clearly deserve this recognition.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

Governor Murphy and his team continue to focus their efforts on building out COVID-19 vaccine distribution capacity while we await the Biden administration taking steps to increase the supply of vaccine doses. When that happens New Jersey will be ready, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Murphy administration and of countless county and local officials who have opened their own vaccine clinics. Collectively, New Jersey distribution sites have now vaccinated over 700,000 residents with first doses and this should continue to ramp up with additional vaccine doses being allocated to our state.

President Biden continues making an aggressive push for Congress to provide much needed relief to people, small businesses, state and local governments and others impacted by COVID-19. His $1.9 trillion proposal would include direct payments to struggling Americans as well as significant investments in vaccine production and distribution, testing and contact tracing and many other priorities designed to help us weather this storm. We at NJDSC are thankful that our federal representatives are on board supporting President Biden’s plan and we call on Congress to move forward immediately to provide the relief that the American people need.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

This week our nation officially closed the book on the past four years of division, cruelty and chaos as we begin the process of healing under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Americans overwhelmingly voted in favor of decency and respect and because of that, I have a tremendous amount of hope for our country in spite of the great challenges that we face. I am comforted to know that we now have a leader with the empathy and experience to overcome the damage that has been done by the previous administration, in addition to ensuring that the COVID-19 crisis is brought to an end. On behalf of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, I offer my heartfelt congratulations and full support to President Biden and Vice President Harris.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

This week New Jersey passed a major milestone in its vaccine distribution program, with over 500,000 residents now having received doses. Governor Murphy and his team are continuing to expand the state’s vaccine distribution infrastructure, with all six of the state’s mega-sites now open for vaccine appointments.

Among the many executive actions President Joe Biden took immediately upon beginning his term in office, implementing a national strategy to handle the COVID-19 pandemic is among the most critical. This week the President announced that he will utilize the Defense Production Act to immediately increase production of vaccines, syringes, PPE and other critical materials. This decisive action will be essential to increasing vaccine supply here in New Jersey and throughout the country.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie
