Democrat,

Ever since he announced his run for Governor, Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli has worked overtime to appeal to the far right, Trump-obsessed base of the Republican Party. From speaking at a “Stop the Steal” rally seeking to overturn the results of the Presidential election, to adopting right wing talking points on denying reproductive freedom, preventing a minimum wage increase and more, Ciattarelli has waged a campaign that is clearly out of step with New Jersey. This week that campaign took an even uglier turn, as Assemblyman Ciattarelli was caught on tape making bigoted, hurtful remarks about the LGBTQ community. With each passing day, Jack Ciattarelli makes it more and more clear that he is no moderate — he’s another extremely conservative Republican who we cannot allow to win in November.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

Governor Murphy traveled to Washington this week to join a bipartisan group of governors and mayors to support President Biden’s infrastructure plan. Calling the plan a “gamechanger for New Jersey,” the Governor cited the positive impact it will have on the state’s roads, bridges, public transit, water systems and much more. Following the meeting Governor Murphy continued working to support the plan, meeting with leaders like Senator Bob Menendez, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and others.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

President Biden and Democrats throughout the nation are celebrating the first payments of the new Child Tax Credit being dispersed this week. This landmark new program will support millions of working families with much needed extra income to help with the expenses of raising children, while simultaneously giving the economy a boost with increased consumer spending as we continue our recovery from the pandemic. Passed as part of the recovery act despite receiving zero Republican votes, the Child Tax Credit is more proof that only the Democratic Party is focused on helping families make ends meet.

Democrat,

Republican gubernatorial candidate Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli made an abrupt about face this week, going from calling for the state to skip this year’s pension payment to suddenly demanding to “protect police and fire pensions” in a tweet he later deleted. It’s a good thing Governor Murphy is better at managing the state budget than Ciattarelli is at managing his Twitter account, because rather than follow the Republican nominee’s advice Governor Murphy made a record pension payment this year that will save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in reduced interest costs. Read more about Assemblyman Ciattatelli’s pension follies here.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

In another milestone in the state’s recovery from COVID-19, earlier this week Governor Murphy announced that for the first time since March of 2020 the state reported no confirmed deaths due to the virus. While the highly contagious Delta variant is still leading to new cases, increasingly the pandemic is affecting only the unvaccinated as residents who have received their shots are returning to normal life. If you have not yet been vaccinated, now is the time — find out where you can get your shot here.

CONGRESSIONAL UPDATE

After being defeated last year by Congressman Tom Malinowski, Republican Tom Kean, Jr. announced that he will be running again next year. In one of his very first actions as a candidate, Kean Jr. this week embraced Washington’s number one Trump defender and enabler, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Just like he did in 2020, Kean Jr. is once again throwing away any remaining piece of his former reputation as a political moderate and instead joining the far right, Trumpist movement that has taken over the Republican Party. That’s why voters will reject him once again.

If you want to fight back against Tom Kean, Jr.’s embrace of the far right, donate to Congressman Malinowski’s campaign here.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

Marking the continued progress his administration is making in fighting the pandemic and getting the economy back on track, President Biden gave a stirring July 4th address this week highlighting how his agenda is helping America move forward. Watch President Biden’s speech here.

This Saturday at 4:00pm, we have a special digital organizing event with two incredible guests — Governor Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy!

Sign up here to join us and get started helping keep New Jersey moving forward.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

Governor Murphy officially signed the FY 2022 state budget into law this week, making much needed investments in our state’s future and putting us on a path to fully recovering from the pandemic. The budget includes many historic items, including the largest payment into the pension fund ever, new and expanded tax relief programs for the middle class and working families, aid to small businesses, additional school funding, a four year free college program and much more. You can read more about the budget here.

Read Chairman Jones’ statement praising Governor Murphy and legislative leaders for their commitment to investing in our state’s future here.

CONGRESSIONAL UPDATE

Yesterday the House of Representatives voted on the bipartisan, compromise infrastructure bill negotiated by President Biden and legislative leaders from both parties. The plan would invest billions of dollars into upgrading our decaying infrastructure, creating jobs by putting people to work fixing our roads, bridges, water systems, internet architecture and much more. While we are proud that 11 of our state’s 12 representatives voted for these investments, we are disgusted that Rep. Jeff Van Drew has once again abandoned his constituents and sided with the radical, far right fringe of the Republican Party by voting No.

Read Chairman Jones’ statement on Van Drew’s vote here.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

Marking the nation’s incredible progress against the COVID-19 pandemic, President Biden kicked off his “America is Back” Ice Cream Truck tour this week right here in Trenton. Governor Murphy and a crowd of supporters greeted the truck at the city’s Hetzel Pool to cool off and celebrate the Summer. Read more about the event here.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

A new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University shows Governor Murphy holding a 15 point lead in the General Election against Republican Jack Ciattarelli, who continues struggling to break through with voters. The poll is the second major public survey showing the Governor with a significant lead, with strong majorities of New Jerseyans approving of his handling of major issues like COVID-19 recovery and fighting for the middle class and working families.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

The State Senate and General Assembly each passed the Fiscal Year 2022 State Budget this week, which now heads to the Governor’s desk to be signed before the July 1 deadline. This historic budget makes major investments in the middle class, from increasing property tax relief programs like the Homestead Rebate, to providing direct cash assistance to residents, to making a $2.5 billion payment into the state pension system, the largest amount in decades.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

President Biden announced a breakthrough bipartisan compromise that will invest over $1.2 billion in infrastructure projects throughout the nation over the next eight years, giving another boost to our economy as the nation recovers from COVID-19. This is another signature victory for the President and more proof that his leadership is bringing people together for progress.

Democrat,

Last night our New Jersey Democratic State Committee voted for a new Executive Board led by my successor and friend, Chairman LeRoy Jones of Essex County. I have tremendous confidence in Chairman Jones and his team and I know that our party is in good hands, and I congratulate him on beginning what I’m sure will be a successful tenure as NJDSC Chairman. Read more about Chairman Jones and our party’s new leadership team here.

Leading our Democratic Party has been the privilege and honor of my career in public service and I would like to thank the DSC members and Democratic leaders around the state for their support over the years as we accomplished so many great things together.

I will not be going away and I look forward to continuing to serve as Chairman of the Passaic County Democrats and to keep contributing to the success of our party however I can. This is a critical year for our state and we need all hands on deck to help re-elect Governor Murphy and expand our majority in the State Senate and Assembly.

Finally, I want to say thank you to all the New Jersey Democrats who have helped our party succeed so much over the last eight years. Whether you donated to our party or our candidates, came to our events, attended one of our trainings, shared our content with your networks or simply voted for Democratic candidates, you have made a difference in the direction of New Jersey, and we could not do it without your support.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

P.S. — I would like to wish you a happy Juneteenth as our state celebrates this incredibly meaningful holiday for the first time. Read more here to learn about how New Jersey is marking the occasion and the history behind the day.

Democrat,

The Primary Election is over and we now know who the Republican nominee facing off with Governor Murphy will be — longtime Trenton insider, Trump fan and Christie collaborator Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli. Read our new blog post laying out five things to know about Republican Ciattarelli, from his embrace of Trump’s election lies to his extreme conservative positions on critical issues.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

Governor Murphy and his team are continuing the state’s incredibly successful vaccine distribution campaign, which is now recognized as one of the best in the nation. Over 5.5 million residents have now received at least their first shot, which ranks sixth among all states. This tremendous progress is helping us all get closer to returning to our normal lives as businesses reopen, public events start to be scheduled again and families and friends are reunited after so much time apart.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

While New Jersey and the country as a whole are making enormous strides in defeating COVID-19, the same cannot be said about many other countries where access to lifesaving vaccines is currently not possible. President Biden announced this week that his administration would provide 500 million doses to countries around the world to help them begin their own vaccine programs. This is not only the moral choice, it’s also a smart investment as eradicating the pandemic across the globe is the only way to ensure that it never rises again in our own communities.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

The Great Trump-off of 2021, also known as the Republican Primary for Governor, rages on towards Election Day on Tuesday. The candidates are continuing to cozy up to the most extreme elements of the Republican Party, with the latest example coming this week when Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli embraced the anti-vaccine movement by promoting one of its most prominent backers in the state.

No matter which candidate prevails, the result will be clear — a Trump Republican will be running against Governor Murphy, and we need to do everything we can to rally behind our Governor.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

New Jersey continues to make tremendous progress in the fight against COVID-19, and today Governor Murphy has lifted additional restrictions on indoor gatherings as vaccination rates rise and cases fall. This follows the lifting of the state’s indoor mask mandate one week ago and marks our continued success in beating back the pandemic as we get closer to the Summer.

Recognizing that progress, the state legislature passed a bill this week to officially end the state’s public health emergency, one year and three months since it was originally enacted. The bill, which Governor Murphy plans to sign today, will maintain some of the executive powers that have helped keep residents safe while returning to a more normal management of state government.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

The Biden administration continues to make unmistakable progress on ending the COVID-19 crisis and getting our economy back on track. Vaccine numbers are progressing across the country and jobs are being filled as demand for sectors impacted by the pandemic returns. We’ve come a long way since January when President Biden took office and we’re grateful for his steady, competent leadership.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

Earlier this week two of the Republicans vying for their party’s nomination to take on Governor Phil Murphy held a debate that essentially boiled down to one question — who is the Trumpiest? Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli and businessman Hirsh Singh traded barbs all night about who is the bigger right winger, who thinks Donald Trump really won the 2020 election, who would roll back gun safety laws faster, who would attack a woman’s right to choose more savagely and much more. Unfortunately, this sad spectacle was an accurate representation of where the New Jersey Republican Party is today, with a new poll saying that 71% of GOP voters don’t believe that Joe Biden won the 2020 election.

There was one winner of the debate — Governor Murphy, who is leading our state forward while his Republican opponents continue to appeal only to the far right.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

With Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of summer upon us, New Jersey is reaching a major milestone today with Governor Murphy officially dropping the state’s indoor mask mandate in most circumstances. As the Governor says, the incredible progress our state has made in vaccinations and in reducing the number of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations has made this moment possible.

For up to date information regarding new cases and directives regarding coronavirus, or information on vaccine registration and signup, visit the state’s dedicated COVID-19 Information Hub or follow Governor Murphy’s official pages on social media. PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

We all know that economic health is impossible without public health, and with more than 50% of the country now vaccinated the Biden administration is starting to see real results on reviving the American economy. Job growth is picking up, with wages also rising as employers compete for workers by offering higher pay and better benefits. It’s all part of President Biden’s economic plan, and it’s working.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

Since he switched parties and decided to go all in with Donald Trump, Rep. Jeff Van Drew has continued to drift further and further out of the mainstream and towards the extreme right wing. That continued this week when he voted no on a bipartisan bill to create an independent commission to study the horrific events of January 6th, when an angry mob spurred on by Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol. Read our full statement on Van Drew’s disgraceful vote here.

Even Rep. Chris Smith, who is one of the most conservative members of the House of Representatives, did the right thing and joined dozens of Republicans and every Democrat in voting to establish the commission. Van Drew’s no vote is another disgrace and all the more reason why he must be defeated next year. Join our “Traitor Van Drew” campaign here to stand up for our democracy.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

With the Supreme Court threatening women’s reproductive rights with a pending case that could weaken Roe v. Wade, states are mobilizing to codify abortion rights to ensure that women’s right to choose is protected. Here in New Jersey, Governor Phil Murphy has made his support for women’s reproductive rights 100% clear and he is working to pass the Reproductive Freedom Act to ensure that women in our state continue to have access to these critical health care services regardless of what the Supreme Court does. Yesterday, the Governor was joined by legislators and advocates on a video roundtable organized by Planned Parenthood of NJ to discuss the urgent need to pass the bill.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

President Biden got behind the wheel this week to help showcase the new Ford F-150 Lightning, the American car icon’s first fully electric pickup truck. The President used the event to highlight the need to pass the American Jobs Plan to invest in electric vehicles and other forward-looking initiatives that will create millions of jobs and also help fight climate change.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie

Democrat,

Governor Murphy’s re-election campaign is kicking into high gear with the primary election only a few more weeks away, releasing its first television ad and starting a major push towards informing the state about all the progress that has been made with the Governor’s leadership. With the Republican Party still wrestling with its future as a “Trump Party,” Governor Murphy is focused on the real issues that our state cares about, like recovering from the pandemic, getting small businesses going again and much more.

GOV. MURPHY UPDATE

With the Pfizer vaccine now approved for use in children ages 12-15, Governor Murphy and public health leaders throughout the state are working to offer vaccinations to this new population group to continue the fight against COVID-19. New cases and hospitalizations are both dropping rapidly as more and more residents get vaccinated and the state is still pushing towards its goal of vaccinating 70% of the state’s population by June 30.

PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE

After a cyberattack left the nation’s gasoline supply disrupted, President Biden’s administration has taken decisive action to alleviate any shortages and make sure that peoples’ lives are not disrupted. The Biden administration’s whole-of-government approach involved mobilizing enough fuel reserves to provide gasoline for five million vehicles starting this weekend. Read more about the President’s actions here.

Just like how his leadership is helping us get through COVID-19, President Biden continues to show what it means to have a competent, effective President in the Oval Office who is working to solve problems, not create them.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie
