Job Description: The Communications Advisor for the New Jersey Democratic State Committee works with the Chair, party staff, and stakeholders to drive earned media coverage and communicate the party’s message. This position is responsible for overseeing the party’s overall communications and messaging strategy for the highly competitive and nationally-watched 2025 gubernatorial race. This is an on-the-record role and will include overseeing internal and external communications, developing communications plans, executing events, and working with reporters.
Responsibilities:
● On the record spokesperson for the governor’s race
● Plan and oversee events including press conferences, press calls, and creative earned media opportunities.
● Draft media materials, including press releases, talking points, online content, and statements.
● Write short and long-term communications plans.
● Develop pitch ideas and pitch stories to reporters in New Jersey and nationally.
● Respond to media inquiries.
● Work with staff to manage difficult communications situations including crisis communications.
● Works with existing communications consultant(s) to ensure continuity of message.
● Reports directly to the Chair of the NJDSC.
The ideal candidate will have:
● 3+ years working in political communications, preferably at least one cycle on a statewide campaign.
● On-the-record experience.
● Proven ability to execute creative earned media campaigns.
● Previous record of working and communicating with multiple stakeholders.
● A willingness to work in a high-paced campaign environment with unpredictable hours.

The New Jersey Democratic State Committee is seeking a Research Tracking Coordinator based to join the campaign for the 2025 election cycle. The Research Tracking Coordinator will be a key member of the research team, monitoring opponents on a day-to-day basis both in person and virtually and reporting on candidate events as well as organizing volunteers to attend events.
We are looking for someone with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, who is a responsive, passionate and determined worker with a creative approach to identifying research opportunities, and who has experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires accurate work on tight deadlines.
The Research Tracking Coordinator will work closely with members of the research and communications teams. We are looking for candidates who are excited about campaigns and looking to grow their campaign skills. The Research Tracking Coordinator will be expected to travel to events as necessary.
Responsibilities: The Research Tracking Coordinator will be responsible for comprehensively tracking opponents’ schedules and finding opportunities to record opponents, get them on the record, and hold them accountable. The Research Tracking Coordinator will transcribe and comprehensively report out events and activities to the campaign team and assist with other duties as assigned such as opposition research, rapid response, and paid media tracking. The Research Tracking Coordinator will also be responsible for recruiting, managing, and overseeing a volunteer tracking network.
Skills:
● Interest and passion for politics, campaign experience preferred
● Attention to detail
● Ability to manage up while prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while being proactive and communicative with other staff
● A desire to hone research and political skills in a dynamic, active department
● Discretion and sound judgment when dealing with sensitive information
Expected Outcomes:
● Research and confirm details for tracking opportunities, maintaining a robust calendar for insight purposes
● Attend and record footage and audio of public events in a timely manner with key activity highlighted
● Process transcriptions of digital assets and distribute same-day reports that identify key details of the event
● Recruit, train, and manage volunteer tracking and provide regularly updates to the party
● The Research Tracking Coordinator is a self-starter who can proactively solve problems and provide a high level of precision and detail in their work
● The Research Tracking Coordinator will maintain relationships with key stakeholders to achieve program goals
● The Research Tracking Coordinator reports to the Chair of the NJDSC.
The ideal candidate will have:
● A current driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle and cell phone
● Availability to work weeknights and weekends as needed
● Willingness to monitor a 24-hour news cycle
