(Trenton)- Congressman Joaquin Castro will serve as the keynote speaker at the New Jersey Democratic State Committee’s Annual State Conference. Assemblyman John Wisniewski, Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, released the following statement:
“The New Jersey Democratic State Conference is always a great event. This year, New Jersey Democrats will hear from a Democratic rising star who is among the next generation of American leaders. I’m thrilled to announce that Congressman Joaquin Castro will give the keynote address at the conference dinner reception on Friday, May 17.
Congressman Castro knows that it isn’t enough to win your own election - you have help other Democrats win too. In 2012, while running for his first Congressional term, Castro also spoke at the Democratic National Convention, served as a surrogate for President Obama in key battleground states, and raised significant funds for other Democratic candidates.
Joaquin Castro doesn’t just represent the city of San Antonio. He represents the achievement of the American Dream. His story is one we need reflected more in New Jersey communities. Congressman Castro’s address will fire up New Jersey Democrats and help us kick off a busy campaign season, as we work to elect Democrats who will ensure that New Jersey’s next generation has the opportunities to achieve their own American Dreams.”
