One Year Later, Congressman Lance Has Done Nothing To Prevent More Gun Violence Tragedies

One year after the tragic massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Congressman Leonard Lance has done nothing to push for a vote to curb gun violence and prevent more tragedies.

There is broad, bipartisan support for expanded background checks to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill, yet Congressman Lance and his Republican leadership refuse to even allow a simple vote on a bipartisan background check bill.

“It has been one year since the tragedy in Newtown, and since then too many more families across the country have had to cope with heartbreaking loss because of gun violence – but Congressman Lance has not lifted a finger to prevent more tragedies,” said Emily Bittner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “More than 80 percent of Americans support expanding background checks, so that we can keep deadly weapons out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill, but Congressman Lance has refused to push for a bipartisan vote and is instead standing in lockstep with his Republican leadership to block even a simple vote on legislation to curb gun violence.”
