CURRIE APPLAUDS MURPHY'S CHOICE OF SHEILA OLIVER AS RUNNING MATE

[Trenton] -- After Democratic gubernatorial nominee Phil Murphy announced Assemblywoman and former Speaker Sheila Oliver as his campaign running mate -- and his future second in command in Trenton -- New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie called the choice "a home run" and issued the following statement:

"A leader in both Essex and Passaic counties, Sheila Oliver has been a partner and trusted friend to her constituents, and also to me."

"Assemblywoman Oliver not only balances the top of the ticket on gender and race – proving the Democratic Party’s commitment to diversity – but her familiarity with the people and procedures that drive our legislative caucuses complement Ambassador Murphy's efforts to undertake strong and innovative policies to get our economy moving, make it fair, and get New Jersey working again for all residents."

"Sheila is someone who delivers for her constituents, and that should be very encouraging to New Jersey's working class families, which both expect and deserve a government that is responsive to their needs."

"I am thrilled with the Murphy-Oliver ticket. It is a winning partnership for New Jersey."
