(Trenton) -- Today, New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie commented on Chris Christie's appearance on the main Republican presidential debate stage tonight, advising viewers to take a good, objective look at the record (or lack thereof) of New Jersey's failed, absentee governor before making predictions about his viability.
"It is as disingenuous for Chris Christie to be talking about national security as it is for the national media to breath oxygen into his faltering candidacy. Not long ago, he admitted that he had not given any deep thought to foreign policy," said Chairman Currie. "And, not only has Chris Christie embellished his resume but, the fact is, he abused his office as U.S. Attorney -- a position he received for his political patronage, not on the basis of merit -- to reward his cronies and protect his brother from prosecution for misconduct on Wall Street."
"What debate watchers also need to know is that -- from health security to environmental security to economic security -- Chris Christie has left New Jersey less safe and secure," Currie added. "If we're telling it like it is, the only thing that Mr. Christie has established by his presence on the debate stage tonight is a lack of credibility and the willingness to waste taxpayer dollars on self-promotion while neglecting his official responsibilities at home."
